Caesarean scar therapy
Scars tell a story — but they can also leave behind tightness, pulling, or discomfort long after the surface has healed.
Whether your scar is from a C-section or other surgery, it can affect how you move, feel, and connect with your body.
Even small scars can create tension or restriction in the surrounding tissues. This can lead to sensations such as numbness, itching, tingling, or pain, and sometimes affect posture, movement, or even pelvic function. These changes are often due to adhesions — areas where layers of tissue stick together during healing. Gentle scar therapy can help release these restrictions and restore more normal movement and sensation.
At Pelvix, Amy, our Scar Therapy Practitioner provides hands-on treatment to support comfort and recovery. Sessions are completely individual and move at your pace — whether you’re newly post-surgery or have had your scar for years.
Treatment may include:
- Gentle hands-on scar techniques – to soften and mobilise tight tissue and improve comfort.
- Work on surrounding areas – helping nearby muscles and fascia move more freely.
- Education and self-care advice – showing you how to safely continue scar work at home.
- Breathing and relaxation techniques – to support mobility and reduce tension.
- Integration with postnatal or physiotherapy rehab – ensuring joined-up care with our pelvic health team.
- Treatment can usually begin once your scar is fully healed, dry, and infection-free — usually around 6–8 weeks after surgery.
