Improving Movement and Comfort Through Scar Therapy
It’s common to be left with lingering tightness, discomfort, or pulling sensations for months — sometimes even years — afterwards.
Scar therapy is a gentle, hands-on treatment that helps release tension and improve how the scar and surrounding tissues move and feel. Over time, scar tissue can create adhesions (areas where the layers of tissue stick together), which can contribute to sensations like itching, pulling, or that familiar “overhang” some women notice after surgery. These adhesions can also affect how comfortably you move, sometimes even leading to discomfort in the pelvis, hips, or lower back. This approach also works well on other scars around the body, such as after orthopaedic surgery.
What to expect
Sessions are calm, unhurried, and completely led by you. It’s normal to feel a bit nervous about having your scar touched — especially if it’s still sensitive or you haven’t yet felt comfortable making contact with it.
Treatment can begin once your scar is fully healed and dry, with no signs of infection — usually around 6–8 weeks after birth.
